our leadership team

Cynthia "Cindy" Telfer  spent her career in the affordable housing industry, starting in 1981 with the City of Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Housing Commission.  Her passion for service to others was groomed by working with low-income families and collaborating  with many area services providers.  Congressman John Dingell recognized  this dedication on August 18, 2006 in a letter thanking Cindy "for a public service job well done". As Cindy continued to navigate the affordable housing world she worked as a teacher, coach and mentor with private housing providers and public housing agencies.  After becoming the Executive Director of the Melvindale Housing Commission, Cindy pursued the development of a subsidiary non-profit (The Greatest of These Is Love) to provide affordable household items through Nora's Closet and free meals through The Ladle of Love Bistro. The Greatest of These Is Love was founded on a keen interest to serve others.  Our name was inspired from 1 Corinthian's Chapter 13 of the Bible wherein the attributes of love are listed.  In verse 13 of Chapter 13 faith, hope and love are mentioned, but noted of the three the "greatest of these is love".  As a charitable organization we feel it appropriate that love is the surpassing characteristic of our organization.    With the vision, dedication and  the support of our community members and leadership team, we hope to ease the challenges felt by so many of our fellow humans.
